Russ Danielson
Russ Danielson has made many contributions to the agricultural industry, both in his work, and in the lives he has touched and students he has taught and inspired. Danielson served on the faculty of North Dakota State University’s Animal Science Department for 44 years. He was an instructor and the Beef Unit manager from 1965 to 1973 and on the teaching and research faculty from 1973 to 2009.
Danielson served as an academic advisor and mentor for hundreds of Animal Science students; and served for more than a quarter century as faculty advisor to the NDSU Saddle and Sirloin and Judging Clubs.
Danielson was instrumental in establishing the North Dakota Junior Beef Expo; and officiated as a judge in state and national beef cattle shows in 26 states and four Canadian provinces. He consulted with Russel Bueling in developing the Buelingo breed and helped establish the Buelingo Beef Cattle Society.
In 2011, he received the NDSU Saddle and Sirloin Club Agriculturalist of the Year Award. In 2014, he was inducted into the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. Since retiring from NDSU Danielson has served as a regional educational specialist for the American Simmental Association.
A native of Valley City, ND, Danielson became an NDSU Professor Emeritus in 2010, the year he retired.
